The visual impact of the city has to add to the story. Minas Tirith stands alone and is run by a mad man. Strength has left the line of men. Hence the forbidding citadel in the middle of the wilderness appearence. It looks like a skeleton scoured clean. I thought it was bloody brilliant design for tge impact it had to make.

I like the Jackson movies. But to really do LOTR justice I think what we really need is like an 8 hour long, properly done epic version with all the details from the book.
