I feel that but if you ever decide to get rid of them hit me up

Manga in English takes like 20 minutes to read, so I've never had that problem. But I can one up you - I bought a SHIT ton of doujinshi when I lived in Japan and have kept it with me for "Japanese practice". I've carried this stuff across oceans and continents when moving because I'm convinced one day I'll crack it open to practice Japanese reading.

so deluded, lol

This is me and novels. Although I’m trying to get rid of some of them to make room for manga I would read ahahahahaha.

Honestly, OP? Just pick one and dive in. Once you've gotten over that "but I have so many" hurdle, you'd be surprised at how fast you can get through them all.

I used to be the same way with video games until one day I decided that I was just going to grab one off my shelf and start playing it. Once I got into the groove, it stopped having the feeling of a chore that I felt like I had to do and became something I wanted to do because it was fun.

I shall take your advice about the games. Because I have a depressing collection.

I had that problem too, so I’ve stopped going to bookstores and the library in an effort to read what I have at home. I’m halfway through my pile, so it’s working out pretty good for me.

OP, I had a friend give me a couple boxes of manga (in Japanese, because I mostly refuse to read it in English) in 2010 and I'm STILL working on it. It wasn't like they were big boxes.

I also keep buying Bleach. Which I have been attempting to read since 2006. (Don't judge me, the first volume was hilarious.) I'm on volume 39. I own up to 45, I think. Some day I will read it. Haha. Ayashi no Ceres. Fushigi Yuugi. KareKano. Yu Yu Hakusho. Some day.

I HAVE, however, read the many, many volumes of doujinshi I bought.

Honestly, with Bleach you're probably better off stopping. Rarely have I seen a manga start off so good and then just crash and burn so spectacularly (and I'm not even talking about the ships. The narrative and characters just turned into a clusterfuck and it makes me sad because the early volumes were so fun and refreshing).

DA I feel the same way. Bleach had so much promise and the first couple of volumes were wonderful, but Kubo kept introducing more and more characters that I didn’t give a shit about, stopped developing my favorite characters, and threw the plot to the wind.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-11 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
This is exactly how I feel, it felt like all the main characters (even Ichigo) kept being pushed more and more to the side in favor of whatever shiny new character design Kubo was into that week and the plot was replaced by a series of fight scenes with no emotional weight behind them.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-11 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
At least the character design was nice, and Kubo is a talented artist

But still not worth the time past, idk, Hueco Mundo?

This is me, with both books & TV on DVD.

urgh i'm jealous, i don't have the space to store manga and I WANT TO SPEND MONEY DAMMIT

(Anonymous) 2019-02-11 10:22 am (UTC)(link)
Congratulations on the amount of money you seem to have to spend on a living room full of things you will never read...? (sorry, but that wa my first thought)

I used to have a milk crate full of magazines I meant to read. There were so many that I didn't know where to start, so I didn't read them and they just sat there getting older and older.

I finally just grabbed one and put it on the counter next to the toilet. Every time I went to the bathroom, I read a few paragraphs or a sidebar or something. I took me months, but I read every single one of those suckers and got rid of them all.

Now I suppose I should apply the same strategy to my teeming piles of unread manga.
