I'm all for the messages; I like message-driven work. Most of DW is full of social and political messages.

The problem I had was when they stopped the plot to have the Doctor explain the message. If you're going to make an episode about Rosa Parks being pursued by a racist dude from the future, that's inherently making a political statement; you don't need to end with a lecture For the Children about the impact she had.

It's a writing problem—attempting to make it children's TV (as opposed to family TV) and underestimating children's level of sophistication/the fact that children are watching it with adults who can explain anything they don't get—not a problem of the politics themselves.

I like the way you explained this, but mostly I just loooove your icon. :D

Thanks! Yours too.

There was a lot I enjoyed about the season. I just think that Thirteen deserves tighter scripts.

I was really apprehensive about that episode but it was better than I anticipated. But I still agree, it was a little heavy handed and tried to drive the point home with a sledgehammer when it really wasn't necessary, IMO.
