I have no idea. To me, it seems like a DW or an IJ - you don't like LJ, here's something that does what LJ dose, only without the crazy censorship.

It's barely a month and a half old, so who knows what it will become.

Their 'mission statement' or whatever you might call it basically says 'Tumblr blocked your blog because they didn't like your female-presenting nipples? We won't do that.'

Which...is a lot like what DW did when LJ was going nuts. Their TOS is straightforward re: no child porn, etc., but nsfw stuff is fine.

As you rate more posts, and as you learn our rating system, your proficiency will increase over time. Once you demonstrate a high enough level of proficiency, you may be invited to become a designated Community Monitor. As a Community Monitor, you can earn up to $0.01 per reviewed post (around $15/hr, give or take), depending on the proficiency level you maintain. I think the wriggle here is "Post what you want, but we're going to rate it."

I was curious so I set up an account, but I see the first thing they're urging me to to is to set my "comfort level" ... which I'm going to guess might tie into what looks like an attempt to objectify ratings on content?

(I wonder how they're funding the content raters?)

(Also, at a penny a post, to earn $15/hour one would have to review 1500 posts an hour. Which is 2.4 seconds per post.)

Could be, though I can't figure the angle: no info other than my email and birth year were required, and they haven't asked for money.

I was not a fan of tumblr, but I am amused at how much they've cloned the look.

OKay, and? Your posts are monitored wherever you post, either by bots (who fuck up) by people (who fuck up) or by peers (who fuck up). Or who do a passing job.

Not exactly a deal-breaker. But, like i said - it's superearly days yet.

I wasn't making a judgment either way, just pointing out something that I hadn't expected and found somewhat noteworthy because I thought others might find it of interest as well.
