lmao A+ secret

Honestly? After the live-action Beast and his disturbingly beefcake furry figure and the absolute nightmare that is the live-action Dumbo's eyes, I don't know why people are complaining so much about a look that will likely only be in the movie for a few minutes before he switches to a more-human appearance (as seen in the other promos so far), especially when there was complaining that he /wasn't/ blue before.

I was about to comment that the switch from "why isn't he BLUE?" to "kill it with fire!" has been pretty amusing to watch.

That said this look bugs me because Will Smith's head looks like it was pasted on to a body that doesn't quite match. And I don't mean he isn't ripped enough irl or whatever. I just mean it looks like when your sibling messes with your dolls/action figures and puts the wrong head on the wrong body.

The thing that bugged me about the Beast wasn’t his figure, it was that he looked like he was wearing a Beast mask that barely moved, and I thought Disney would have the money for way better CGI/mo-cap. Even his fur looked like bad CGI, but I could’ve forgiven that if he had the occasional facial expression.

AYRT I agree, and it was especially unfortunate because Dan Stevens is a great actor.

His pecs, however, are unfortunately burned into my mind, because there was no reason at all to make him look like that.

Did they try to... digitally fatten him? Is that why it's so awful? Ugh.

That is...yikes-worthy, but it's a still, and he will not be blue for long, so I'm going to give Will the benefit of the doubt. I adore him too much not to see this film.

I don't remotely understand why people have so much of a problem with this.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-16 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Could it have something to do with the fact that peoples' tastes vary?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-16 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
In the grand scheme of things, it's no big deal. It's just unsettling, is all.

I'm finding it all very easy to ignore. I've never seen nor had an interest in any of Disney's live-action re-makes, even going back to 101 Dalmatians. I was never going to see this movie so I don't care.

WHY'D YOU HAVE TO MENTION THE NIPPLES?! AUUGHH!! THAT CREATURE IS TERRIFYING ENOUGH WITHOUT LOOKING AT THOSE THINGS!!

(Anonymous) 2019-02-17 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
I’m stuck on the fact that his neck looks like it’s as wide as his head and if it wasn’t for the beard I wouldn’t be able to tell where his chin is supposed to be.

What on earth is with people reacting so strongly to this? I can see not liking it because you think Will Smith can't match Robin Williams or that the CGI closer to TV quality or first-draft-ish because some depth is missing to the image that makes him look a little more 2D...but nightmare fuel? Horrifying? What?

It is literally just Will Smith's (objectively good-looking) face on a more lumber-jack looking body, digitally colored blue. That's it.

What I don't understand is WHY he's tv-quality CGI blue. The actress who played Aalya Secura in the Star Wars prequels looked perfectly fine with practical makeup. It would have been cheaper than CGI and looked better.

I would be HAPPY to take a sequel to "Wild Wild West" over this eye-rape.

Partly because this makes me feel like we have strayed too far from god, but mostly because I really really liked wild wild west.
