Re: What is a place you want to visit but never will.

I would love to go to Japan someday, but I know that it's not a realistic possibility due to both transportation issues (not allowed to fly due to the pressure changes possibly causing brain bleeds, and I live on the east coast of the United States) and because I'm permanently disabled (can't have more than $2000US in assets, and I'd need more than that for a trip to Japan).

I've loved the language and culture almost all my life (even with all of its faults), so going there for a visit would be dream come true. But I know it's a dream that is extremely unlikely to actually happen.

I'm sorry, anon, that really sucks. Maybe there's hope it'll change?

I'm on government disability in Canada, and seven years ago when I first got on disability, I was only allowed to have $3000 CAD. Then they upped it to $5000 CAD for a couple of years.

Aaaaand then they upped it to 100K, lol. (I guess they figured go big or go home?)

With the way things are right now in the US I'd be surprised if any such improvements to the system get put through, but things change. Maybe, given time, it could happen? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, anon. Even if you still can't go to Japan, I'm sure there'd be other things that a higher savings limit would make possible.
