Really? I remember Harry/Hermione shippers accusing Ron/Hermione shippers of being stupid people who condone abusive relationships and acting all superior because their pairing was two functional people who respected each other. That was way before Twitter, so.

And I remember people calling me a pedophile for shipping Snarry instead of Draco/Harry.

I think there were also people calling Draco/Hermione fans sexist too iirc.

And I remember people calling Harry/Hermione shippers delusional. It went both ways.

But yes, I think the OP has on rose-colored glasses because the ship wars were just as bad back then.

The ones that insisted that Harry/Hermione was canon and that everyone else was just too stupid to see it were a little delusional. Not Snape wives delusional, though. Or "Ginny trapped Harry with love potions" delusional.

My point is, Harry Potter fandom's full of crazy.
