My favourites are the ones from Potter fandom, between OOTP and HBP, where the war went off into sagas the kids became soldiers in a dogfight like war. It irks me that I can't remember any of them. My faves were the complete ones. I hate a non-finished one
though I am guilty of not finishing things myself.The Hunger Games have had some soul hurting fics over the years but alas, I cannot remember them.
I am loving some of the time travel fix it HP stuff going on right now. Harry saves Regulus and changes everything sort of thing.
I do. Yeah I have a lot on the go. Fest fics in the making. Semi-weekly oneshots or drabbles ect for comms here and then a couple of wips.
I mean, I've read parts of My Immortal so for the lols but then....it was not a lol.
And a few where it was decent and I was passing the time one evening, as one does, and then suddenly Malfoy had tentacles and I am not into that!

Last one I read that i really loved was Owlet's 'Infinite Coffee and Protection Detail', though looking at my AO3 bookmarks, there are more that are newer than that....
I do, and I have - finished a long-running WIP and was SO glad that I had. :D

2. Just last night I stumbled across Passion Connected by songlin, a Johnlock Figure Skating AU that I'm really loving. (Don't judge it by the cheesy title, it's good I swear.) I think it's actually dethroned The Bang And The Clatter as my favorite Johnlock Sports AU. Unfortunately, it's a WIP .*sobs*

3. I have written fanfic, but nothing for several years.
4. Memorable for the wrong reasons: We Are Salmon In The Stream, After Years At Sea by apiphile. The author originally posted this very dark, very horrifying fic on Valentines day, with misleading tags that made it sound kind of like a fluffy romance. And then got nasty about it when people were upset. Dick move, dude.
That said, if what you want is extremely dark, body horror, character death fic, it's actually really good.

I really liked those ones where they are tennis players.
Ah, what was that one called...ummm...A Study In Winning! Yeah, I read that fic way back in the day after it was just finished and got SO into it. I have literally never cared more about sports than I cared about John's last couple matches in that fic. When he won, I seriously leaped up off my couch, yelled "Yes!" a few times, and did a victory lap of my apartment, lol.
Objectively I'm of the opinion that The Bang And The Clatter is probably the best written sports AU in the fandom; earlgreytea's writing is just really, really strong. And I did really like TBATC a lot. But Passion Connected is more up my alley in that it has a ton of elements I personally love in it: angsty burn-out backstories and depressing dead-end home lives that they pull each other out of, figure skating (which is a sport I actually rather like), and a lot of pining and being secretly hella vulnerable and insecure (while also being extremely badass skating bamfs who work hard and get it done). That shit may as well have been gift-wrapped for me. :)

All time, probably that insane super-long Harry Potter fic from back in the day where Dumbledore is an evil mastermind and Harry turns into a fairy and has sex with everyone to save Britain from Islam, or... something like that.
Recently, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez self-insert fic.
