When reading porny fic, I generally identify with the character whose POV the scene is written from, regardless of what genitals they have. If the POV switches, then who I identify switches. Now, I'm not necessarily imaging my body doing exactly what the POV character's body is doing, especially when they have parts I don't. It's often more like I'm watching the scene and occasionally inserting myself into the character's place but not always fully.

+1

The gender configuration doesn't matter all that much. I like m/m, f/f, and m/f (I'm pickiest about the latter). Maybe the fact that I'm bi has something to do with this, maybe it doesn't. But the acts and emotions and sensations and dynamics between the characters are the main thing, and any type of pairing can be super hot, and any type can leave me cold.

Totally agreed about not fully inserting myself into any character. I like to sort of vicariously experience the situations of both. And because I don't have a penis and can't ever experience what sex is like for a person who has one, I enjoy really vivid descriptions that help me imagine that.
