OP of THAT secret

What a fucking asshole.

It's such a nonsensical plan.

What a tool.

Yep. This is so disappointing.

As a palate cleanser, a judge ruled the DOJ violated the law regarding the Epstein case, so that thing's still kicking!!

Yup. Disgusting. I still think the fact that people assumed he faked it right away and the news narrative that played out wouldn't have happened if he'd been white. But actually faking something like this is gross.

See I disagree. You remember the Ryan Lochte thing from a few years ago? people - myself included - were calling that bullshit from the ground up, and that was slightly MORE believable than the idea that 2 pricks, while out in the early hours of the morning during the polar vortex, walking around with with their bleach and their ropes, stumbled upon a lone gay black man out on the spur of the moment looking for a bite to eat.

At the same time I'm not seeing anything but supprot for Maajid Nawaz whose story was just "Some cunt punched me in the face and called me a Paki". That I believe. Ryan Lochte and Jussie Smollett I did not believe.

It sucks that he did that. I get *why*, but it sucks. And now what he did is going to be thrown in the face of every LGBTQ person, white or of color, that has a similar, real event happen to them.

The fucking tRumpers are going to be nauseating and smug and *ugly* about this, for way too long, and it sucks.

Seconding this so, so hard. This is exactly how I feel about it.

Re: OP of THAT secret

Agreed.

Also, he supposedly did this because he wasn't happy with his salary. Based off what I've read about the kind of pay he got, if he isn't happy with that kind of money, send it my way, I'll be happy to live on that!

Wow, that's....a really weird reason to do something like that.

Re: OP of THAT secret

(Anonymous) 2019-02-22 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
And THAT shit doesn't even make sense to me! For someone complaining about money, why did he drop 3500 USD on such a crazy scheme? Did he think the writers would pity him enough to the point of increasing his pay? He must have known how badly it could backfire, especially since he was dumb enough to pay by check.

Yes, yes, and yes. There was no need to give racist, bigoted fucks any ammo.

'Asshole' is too mild for that piece of garbage.

May he be sentenced as harshly as the law allows, and may prison treat him the way he claimed to be treated on the outside.

Re: OP of THAT secret

(Anonymous) 2019-02-22 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
This whole thing has honestly taken me to a super dark place, because I'm surrounded by exactly the kind of people that will use this shit as ammo for the next several decades and I don't have any way of getting away from it. Also I'm gay and in the closet so that doesn't help lolllll.

I hate him so much for this. For doing this to people like me. I know it wasn't the intention, and I know my anger is a little misplaced, but I'm feeling what I'm feeling right now and I just want like... every single book possible to be thrown at him and I hope his career is over and I think he should go on national television and livestream and radio and everything and issue a direct apology to every single LGBTQ person he indirectly hurt.

Re: OP of THAT secret

(Anonymous) 2019-02-22 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so sorry.

I hate it when people lie about shit like this, regardless of which group. It makes it that much harder to go public with a story that actually happened.

Re: OP of THAT secret

(Anonymous) 2019-02-22 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so sorry, anon.

I wasn't all that angry at him before the details were known, because I thought he probably did it out of outrage at seeing so many POCs and LGBT people who are more vulnerable than him (i.e. poorer and less professionally successful) get hurt by hateful bigots and a society that doesn't do nearly enough to stop them.

But now that it's seeming like he did it for entirely selfish reasons, I definitely need to retract my previous stance. Fuck that guy, he really is awful. And I'm sorry you have to deal with the fallout from what that criminally selfish idiot did.

The people who were going to use this to excuse further prejudice, victim blaming, and police violence (or anything else), were going to do that anyway. Just remember that when police officers murder people, too many folks shrug...oh well, break a few eggs upholding law and order, should've been more respectful. But when one victim turns out to be a liar or fake, somehow that impugn all victims. They've set the narrative so they always win. Don't buy it. This doesn't excuse prejudice, violence, evil, white supremacy. The truth is, when someone who lies gets caught it should be heartening, showing that justice is doing something, and all the whiny jerks who aim their lives will be ruined by false accusations don't have a leg to stand on. It doesn't feel heartening, of course.

The narrative of this has been given more shocked righteous media frenzy outrage than murder. Don't let them set your focus, the narrative of what justice is needed, or put you on the back foot or defensive. That whole "blame all black people if one does something bad" is white supremacys playbook. It's an old, old playbook. Don't fall for it

You're absolutely right. Assholes love it when they find things to support their views of an entire group, while sane people aren't going to let something like this prevent them from believing other victims.
