Eh, they could have JJ and Will divorce, too. There's supposed to be a time jump when the final season starts, so that'd be an easy way to explain what happened between Will and JJ in between the end of this season and the beginning of the next.

They went out on one date many years ago and it didn't work out. Not sure why it would work for them all of the sudden.

Eh, I can see that happening. Now that these two have built up a long history and friendship, maybe that would make it easier for them to explore something they felt they weren't ready for back when they were younger. Time can change people's perspective on things.

I feel like the writers are just doing this because many fans have wanted them together for years.

Heh, if that's the case, they're catering to what seems to be a pretty small minority of fans, then. Most places I've gone online, a lot of people are very much against this idea. Maybe I'm not hanging out in the right fandom areas :p?

I said this last time this discussion came up, but I've always felt if they were going to put ANY team members together, it would be in the final season. I think that's the biggest reason they might be willing to explore this with these two now, and I feel they might've done the same with, say, Morgan/Garcia or Hotch/Emily were Morgan and Hotch still on the show as well.

Plus, in the case of Reid and JJ, I think it makes for an interesting bookend with their history. Sort of a compare/contrast between the first season and the final season, and how their relationship has changed and grown over that time. Even if they don't get together, I think it makes sense they'd want to touch upon the "what if" of it all before the show ends.

I was hoping Reid would get a happy ending, but with someone new.

Well, they did just recently bring Rachel Leigh Cook on to play a potential love interest for Reid, so it seems that's the direction they'll ultimately go. Should be interesting to see how that plays out alongside all this Reid and JJ stuff, I think.
