Would you murder someone if you could get away with it?

Probably not. Even with objectively evil dictators or whatever, I don't have the geopolitical knowledge to know if killing them would result in even greater political instability.

no. I think the guilt and the memory of it would be too much to live with. even if I got away with it, legally, or whatever, stayed out of jail, didn't get caught, I still wouldn't get away with it because my own head would punish me forever.

No because my paranoid brain will never accept that I could truly get away with it.

I'm so temped to say "I have" and watch the fallout.

Yes. Not, like, a random person, only a very specific person - but yes, 100%.

I cried over a praying mantis that I accidentally squished with my basketball, so no.

If you mean like "any old random person right now" no, what would be the point?

If you mean "can you imagine some extreme circumstance or situation in which you would," sure.

There generally isn't anyone I feel enough emotion about to want to go through the effort of having to kill them. I mean, yes, also morals and things, I'm not comfortable with the idea of violence, but on a more basic level I'm too lazy. You've got to go through the physical effort of killing somebody, by whatever means, and then the physical and intellectual effort of covering it up, and there's just nobody I know who matters enough to me to be worth that?

Yes, i can think of one or two very specific people that should die.

Re: Would you murder someone if you could get away with it?

It would have to be a particularly extreme situation for me to even consider the idea, I think. Like, killing somebody who's violent and putting me/somebody I know in danger.

But in general, no, because I would still be paranoid that somebody would eventually find out, and my guilt would likely make me confess in the end anyway.

Well, there are people who I think it would make the world a better place if they were dead, so, yes, probably

Nope. I'm anti-death penalty. I wouldn't kill even someone who did deserve it. Not that I haven't thought about it. I've imagined murdering my uncle. And Trump and McConnell. But no, I would never actually do it.

Yes, but only one very specific person because the world would be a better place without them in it.

Seems like more effort than it's worth, tbh.

There are two people I always say I would murder if the Purge were a real thing, but even then, the reality there is that what I really want is for them both to be irrevocably fired, and since I can't achieve that, fantasy murder is the next best thing.

If there were no legal or social repercussions of any kind and nobody would ever find out? Yes.

I don't think so. The only person I'd even consider for it is the piece of shit who assaulted me, and while I've definitely had some revenge fantasies, I'm too soft to go through with it. I'm the kind of person who gets home from a drunken party and starts worrying that I might have offended or annoyed someone in some way.

Nope. Even when I was in desperate straits where three hots and a cot sounded pretty damned good, I was only trying to think of crimes with life sentences I could commit without killing anyone.

I'm also pathetic enough to prefer swatting drain flies because I hate seeing them dying slowly of bug spray. So.. yeah. No murder for me, even if I'd get away scot-free, guaranteed.

I'm too squeamish to kill someone myself (unless maybe I could like, put poison in their food or something and be far away by the time they actually eat it/die?) but would I hire someone else to kill them if I had the money for a hitman and neither myself or the hitman would suffer any consequences? Absolutely.

There's one specific person that I definitely would like to die, and another handful of people that I'd be okay with dying. They're awful people who have done horrible things so I don't feel guilty for saying that.

In reality, I'm definitely never going to kill anyone (or hire anyone else to) but that doesn't mean I don't constantly wish for the one especially to drop dead (although I'd be happy if any of the others died, too).

(Anonymous) 2019-02-25 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. I don't refrain from murdering people because I could get in trouble. I refrain from murdering people because it's wrong and I have no desire to hurt anyone that way.

In a hypothetical where I had a coupon for one free murder, I might flip a coin between Individual 1 and Putin...

There aren't a whole lot of people who I genuinely think the world would he better without though. I generally believe life is too important for capital punishment to be a good idea, especially if it were doled out by a vigilante.

Re: Would you murder someone if you could get away with it?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-25 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
If I knew for certain I would get away with it, maybe. The problem is, the person/people I would kill would be in positions of enormous power, and I can't really know what the fallout from it would be. So I might not do it, simply out of fear that I'd destabilize shit and end up making it worse.

Also, if someone brutally assaulted me, I wouldn't kill them, but I would absolutely go Lisbeth Salander on their ass, if the opportunity presented itself.
