What media did you give up on?

Why did you stop consuming it?

The Walking Dead. I just got so bored with Negan. He was annoying to watch on screen.

I never even made it that far. I've tried watching like three times now and I am pretty sure I never made it past them at the jail/compound.

Negan almost made me quit too, but this last season has been so much better (since Angela Kang took over). There's very little Negan so far so that probably has a lot to do with it. Still, I miss the early years.

Agreed. It wasn't even Negan that made me quit, it's just that it's the same crap over and over again and I'm getting tired of it.

Bones. Everyone became unlikable, even the ones I originally was a fan of. Booth was always right and Brennan was always the one who had to learn a lesson. The show believed that all relationships look the same and follow the exact same tropes, and anything that doesn't isn't "true love." I wish I'd given up sooner.

House. Everyone became unlikable. I was way into House/Cuddy, but the ship actually happening in canon ruined it. I wish I'd given this one up sooner too.

Supernatural after the trainwreck that was season 6 and the terrible, terrible season 7 premier.

I am with you on all of these.

Although it sounds like I gave up a bit earlier than you with Bones. I gave up when she had her baby. I loved her so much in the earlier seasons, and it felt like they changed her way too much. Especially without Booth changing.

OMG so much with the House/Cuddy. They played the ship so badly that it ended up killing the ship entirely for me. I wish I'd stopped watching before they were made canon.

And I gave up mid season 5 on Supernatural, so you lasted longer than I did there as well. Ellen and Jo (especially with Anna) were my breaking point.

I sadly stuck around with Bones until they got married. I should have quit earlier, but the marriage was the final straw for me.

I'm still not over the death of Ellen and Jo.

Totally agree with Bones, those are the same reasons I gave it up.

And I almost gave House up for the same reason. The last couple seasons were awful, but I loved the series finale (although it was incredibly similar to both the season finale of another show, and the ending of a movie that both came out around the same time) so I guess I'm glad I did stick around.

Also agree with Supernatural, although I don't think I even bothered with the season 7 premiere.

Agree with you on Bones. Brennan as a stand alone character evolved so much and it happened gradually for a tv show character. You could see why she was changing. But the other characters just sort of ran roughshod over her. And I started getting annoyed when every time I tuned in there was a new intern. We get it, no one can replace Zack.

House definitely felt like one of those shows that should have been cancelled but was allowed to keep going because it still had decent ratings. The story just wasn't there to support it anymore.

I stopped watching GoT when they killed Oberyn Martell.

I gave up on Magicians this season when there were cockroaches two weeks in a row. Also, lack of Eliot.

I get giving up on the Magicians, but please tell me you at least watched last week's Eliot-centric episode (4.05) which basically made Quentin/Eliot endgame.

Damn, I’m thinking of all the GoT moments you have not seen because of the when you stopped. The writing definitely went downhill after they caught up to the books, but still, there’s been some cool stuff.

I stopped watching Glee once it became the Blaine Show. Jfc that was so annoying.

Bones - the incredibly stupid Zack storyline and the worlds most ignorant breakup story (Angela and Hodgins).

The Walking Dead - oh, jeez...when did I start really hating it...the season before Negan, I guess? It was just endlessly repeating itself in the most boring ways possible.

Hawaii Five-Oh - when the stopped having 'core four' stories and kept throwing random blondes into the cast with flimsily ridiculous backstories that were supposed to make you think they were badass.

Criminal Minds - when everybody quit. It just never recovered.

Star Wars - after the first prequel. Dear gods, just...stop.

I totally should've given up at that point. I stuck around another couple seasons but that's definitely when it started sucking.

Supernatural.

I've watched up to season six twice now and can never get further. I loved it when it was Monster of the Week, and then they threw in god and angels and the kitchen sink and I just stopped caring, tbh.

Despite the icon - Bleach! I got bored sometime during the Fullbring arc, and just... drifted away into the lands of fanfic. I still have 0 idea what happened in the Hell arc. Like, none. I assume another women connected to Ichigo got kidnapped? But that's about it, really.
I actually get bored with things quite easily, but that's one of the things I stuck with the longest before giving up on.

I also gave up on Bleach a couple times. I did push through and finish eventually though. You aren't missing much. The arch after Fullbring is about Quniceys and I found them gross and rapey; and every one of them was a previous shinigami or arrancar character with the serial numbers filed off. The Quincey King is trying so hard to be Aizen it's pathetic. Sooooo many dropped storylines and plot craters. The worst ending in shounen.

The most unsatisfying end I could have *imagined* would be for Ichigo to land a killing blow with an ass-pull powerup last minute and then a "and they lived happily ever after". What actually *happens* doesn't even meet this low bar.

I recommend staying in blissful ignorance.

Naruto. The anime just got too long for me. I did finish reading the manga though.

OUAT, after season 3a. I made it through the slog of Neverland, but the show felt like it had been sliding downhill since the end of season 1, and there seemed like a good place to leave it.

The MCU, after Avengers 1. I have a limited amount of patience for live action superhero movies anyway, and Phase 3 just seemed to be picking my least favourite parts to carry forward. Specifically, interpersonal conflict between the heroes. Avengers had the team get together, and then it seemed like every movie after it had them promptly and repeatedly fall apart again.

I should probably stick to superhero cartoons. There's generally more domesticity, adventure and wacky shenanigans in those than you tend to get in the live action.

I've given up on so many shows. Which always saddens me, because I used to love them, and then things happen.

As mentioned above, I gave up on House, Bones, and Supernatural. I, like the others, also gave up on TWD, but mine was before Neegan.

Others I have given up on...
CSI when Sara and Grissom got together, as that pair was such a NoTP of mine plus how they handled some of the storylines.

NCIS when Ziva left. Gibbs and Tony were getting on my nerves, as was fandom, and that was my last straw.

Prison Break with the Sara box storyline.

Agents of Shield at the end of season 3 (I think? Maybe 2? May and a couple of others were not enough to keep me when Daisy and Coulson annoyed me so much.)

Hannibal at the end of season 2. I was already not thrilled because of Beverly and other things, and I hated the events in the finale that season.

There are tons of others I've given up on, but for most it was just generally losing interest rather than a specific event. (Like Grey's Anatomy.)

I stopped watching Once Upon a Time when Neal was killed off; the show had been getting sloppier since the start of sesson 2, and between killing off one of my favorite characters and shoving Hook, who I can’t stand, to the forefront, I didn’t see the point in sticking around. Every time I thought of picking it up again, I’d hear spoilers that made me glad I’d stopped watching.

I loved season one of Sleepy Hollow, but got bored and annoyed by season 2 introducing smouldering rogue white dude whose name I’ve forgotten, and bored by Abraham and Katrina, and stopped watching only a few episodes in. I am so glad I gave up when I did. Even hearing about the spoilers spiked my blood pressure.
