It's people with little or no books that are the uninteresting ones!

Or maybe they just don't like to read? People are allowed to have different hobbies.

da but I like to read, I just don't want to have books around taking up space when there's little to no chance that I'm ever going to read them again. That's why libraries exist.

Books are fine, books are good, obsessing over books and fetishizing them as physical objects is weird

I agree, but I also think it's dumb to assume that's the only reason someone might hold on to a lot of paper books. Personally, I'm just forgetful and a cheapskate. I don't want to re-buy them in digital if I already own them (even if I get tons of books for free thanks to my friends' purges) and I can't get them from the library if I forget they exist. New books I mostly buy in digital but I'm happy holding onto the books I have. I give most of them away after I read them but between depression and work that's slower than I get new ones right now.
