(Anonymous) 2019-03-09 02:01 am (UTC)(link)2. I mostly like my body? Actually, I'm pretty insecure about my body. But I'm tallish and slim, with what people generally seem to feel is a nice-looking face. So I know I'm doing okay, looks-wise. Which I think helps with shopping for things I'm going to wear, because it makes it more ego-boost than ego-hit. (Except underwear. I feel like a lumpy sausage whenever I go underwear shopping, or bathing suit shopping.)
What I do hate shopping for, however, is technology. Because it's expensive and I don't know what I'm doing, and I don't understand what's good and what's bad, and I hate buying things when I have to buy them - such as cell phones or laptops whenever my old ones crap out. I'm not wild about shopping for home appliances either, for all the same reasons.

(Anonymous) 2019-03-09 02:20 am (UTC)(link)I haven't bought a new bathing suit in more than five years. Why would I? The one I have fits and looks fine and I don't go swimming often enough to need more than one. I guess if you've got money to throw away then yeah, sure, but...
Re: Things that you don't get how people enjoy.
(Anonymous) 2019-03-09 03:18 am (UTC)(link)Refer back to point number one: I like fashion, and therefore I like shopping for things to put on my body. It's fun, for me, because fashion is fun for me.
I also don't have the sort of money to just be throwing it away on clothes that I'm only going to wear for a little while
It's not that I'm loaded, it's just that I share the rent on my small apartment, I tend to be a cheap grocery shopper, I have very cheap cell phone and internet plans, and I don't drive. So my monthly expenses are very low. Personally, I prefer to have a smaller living space and take public transit if it means having a decent amount of disposable income (and of course it helps that I live in a fairly big city, where the transit system is serviceable). I choose to go cheap on some things so I can have more disposable income. If I had to pay gas/parking/insurance on a car, I would have almost no disposable income.
Of course there are people who can't afford to drive, need a roommate to cut down on rent, eat cheaply, AND don't have any disposable income. I was one of those people for quite a while, and it's awful, and those people have my empathy for sure. And in that case, yeah, I know they can't afford to go shopping just for fun, whether they want to or not.
