Movie Deja Vu

You ever watch something you feel like you've seen before, but you're not sure so you just keep watching?

Today's post is brought to you by Severance.

I got halfway through a book once before I realized it seemed familiar because I'd read it before in high school. I couldn't tell you what book it was now, and I'm worried I'm gonna read it again at some point in the future.

Haha. And I am usually so good about remembering plots and stuff, so I don't know if this movie is just similar to something I've seen, or if I really have seen it before!

There was a book I read a long time ago that had a lot of parts that sounded very similar to some other books I read. I thought it was incredibly bizarre, but finished reading it and forgot about it after I returned it to the library. I later learned that it wasn't my imagination and the author had actually plagiarized a number of young adult books that were popular back in the day.

I saw a movie that had been made by a kid who completely stole the plot of My Father's Dragon, a not very well-known book that I absolutely loved when I was a kid. Apparently even the kid's teacher in film class didn't know that this kid ripped the book off.

I once found a mystery novel I hadn't read by an author I really like. Or at least I thought I hadn't read it, until I got to the end and I remembered reading the ending. But I didn't remember anything else out of the book. I don't get it, because it's not like I'd read just the ending of a book, especially a mystery novel, so maybe I just forgot the entire rest of the book.

In the reverse of that, ever since I was young (like early teens) I have had the line 'mine eyes dazzle; she died young' in my head. It just randomly pops up now and then.

When the internet/google finally got to be a thing and helpful for looking things up, I googled it.

It's from a play called The Duchess of Malfi, of which I have NEVER read nor seen. It's perplexing.

When I started watching S2 of Jessica Jones I kept thinking, "Huh, okay, they're really mirroring how S1 started with this opening." It took me a stupidly long time to realize I was just watching 1x01 over again. Derp.
