Oh, for fuck's sake, anon, can you not be a jackass? Wil has written a lot of virtual ink about how head-up-his-ass-y he was back in the TNG days, and how with time he's realized Wesley Crusher's serious character flaws due to being GR's self-insert.

So yeah, IDGAF if he calls Gates an affectionate term.

IIRC because it was a toxic place and twitter has done sweet fa about shutting down bigots and alt-right assholes. Which frankly, is why I'd never go on there in the first place so I can't really argue with that decision.
