They might legitimately not be aware they're doing it.

I once knew someone who thought the term was "good riddens". I don't know how they managed this in the age of spell check, but they did it anyway. Eventually I corrected them, but I wasn't exactly subtle about it so they got kinda mad...

I've come across things like "for all intensive purposes" in fic and knew that, surely, the author honestly thought that's the way it should be written, and maybe they have a beta who thought that, too, but if I point it out, they're gonna be soooo embarrassed and I am a Midwesterner and can't do that to people and OH GOD WHAT TO I DO?

So I say nothing and slink away.
