I think Disney screwing over public domain and rewriting copyright laws specifically to make money that is not rightfully theirs is the worse crime tbh

The transformative public domain defense collapses the moment people start charging money for it, and it's sites like AO3 that will get into legal trouble over it.

They won't, though. Like, has anyone taken down Patreon or Ko-Fi because artists take money for commissions? Has any site ever been taken down because of artists taking fanart commissions?

Yes? I have definitely known personal sites/accounts that have been taken down for making money off of copyrighted fan material.

I definitely judge people when they monetize fandom. I mean it's mostly just rolling my eyes and scrolling by, but I admit there's judging and thinking a little less of people.
