I love The Dragon Prince to bits, but Viren's "creative solution" to the famine makes. no. sense! Cancelling winter should have fucked the ecosystem and worsened everything, not fixed it?

If they'd had a guarantee of a warm season, they could still have whomped out a couple of staple crops. Bit of a gamble but a) they were desperate and b) Viren is canonically a bit short sighted.

I resent people still paying for LJ's stupid little features years after everything's gone to shit. I wish everyone could have flown here to DW instead of Tumblr were... everything's goen to shit too.

I miss icons. I miss being able to have a hundred awesome icons. I don't do paid anymore, but 15 icons isn't a lot, so I get why people who ware still on LJ more often stay paid. I only frequent a couple communities, so I don't really have any reason to. But I miss icons.

Why resent it? I pay for extra icons here and on LJ, too - it's not much at all, and 15 icons just wasn't enough.

There's a show that's reasonably popular that I want to watch because it sounds very much like my thing. But I found out one of the creators follows someone on Twitter who I hate and who sent death threats to a friend of mine, so I'm never going to watch the show. I'm sure the creator doesn't KNOW that about this particular person they follow, I'm sure the creator is a nice person, but I know I'll associate the show with This One Asshat now.

Grey's Anatomy is my go-to guilty-pleasure once-in-a-blue-moon binge watch show. For the past couple of years, I'd just watch the latest whole season in one go at some point and not bother with it in the meantime. Because every once in a while you need some mindless cheep drama with some laughs and some tearjerky scenes and not much else. Never got invested in the characters really or involved in the show.


... and now there's Niko/Levi and ... OMG WTF I am suddenly actively and regularly viewing and anticipating and reading fic and met and ... SB WAY To be late to the party. This is getting to the party and being fascinated by the last dying sparkler in the driveway after everyone's left. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?

I absolutely adore the animated prequel and I wish it had a proper fandom
but I think the main comics series is a steaming pile of shite. How in hell do you rec a franchise like this?

I keep telling everyone that I'm really not into superheroes movies and I can count the number I've seen on the fingers of one hand
(X-Men II, Deadpool, Wonder Woman, Venom, Captain Marvel)
but I just might run out of fingers and have to switch hands soon.

I'd never say this to the authors, and it's a wee bit melodramatic, but I hate it so much when I see a fic that hasn't been updated in 2+ years and the last note is something like, "There's going to be a break in updates until after exams!", or, "On hiatus until January!" and I'm just sitting here like, which January? You last updated in 2015...

I know it’s probably just a mix of how she dresses, Ellen Page, and projection on my part, but I honestly headcanon Vanya as a lesbian who hasn’t realized she is a lesbian yet. Her “romance” with Leonard is so clearly based on him manipulating her and her desire for any affection that it felt so hollow I was thinking “man she’s definitely gay though” the whole time I was watching it. S!b: I know identity based headcanon are unpopular, and I doubt it will be canon

And it's pretty goddamn telling that on the fic side of things, it's never the truly good writers who pimp their patreons and ko-fi pages.

If you profit off of existing intellectual property via fanart or fanfic, I don't think you have to the right to complain if someone profits off of your work or uses your ideas.

I thought that it was so exciting that so many authors of the same ethnicity as me were getting published in English in genres I enjoyed reading.

Then I found out that a ton of them were wanky people flinging shit around on Twitter, putting their fellow authors down (also on Twitter) and putting out or retweeting performative rage filled tweets (which I already wasn't thrilled to come across in fandom particularly on tumblr), and as for the rest, even if an author didn't do any of these things they were friends with the people who did (both on and off Twitter).

I think I'll continue to give all these authors a miss.

I didn't find Adam Driver attractive at all, but V from Devil May Cry 5 was obviously visually based on him and he is so fucking hot I don't know what to do with myself. And now I'm starting to see Adam Driver as more attractive too. I feel so weird about this.

I always find it hypocritical when fans excuse their disinterest in female characters by saying that there aren't any interesting ones in their fandom while simultaneously having zero difficulties inventing deep, tragic backstories for a minor male character with maybe one line and under five minutes screentime.

Not saying you need a "better" excuse or even one at all. Just be honest.

I'm still playing catch up with campaign 1, but I've been feeling guilty about how annoying I find Keyleth (because Marisha seems like a really nice and cool person). I had to fast forward through large swaths of an episode because she was so fuckign awful.

It helps to be keeping up with campaign 2 because she is so much better as a monk.

I fully support more diversity in media, but I think a certain way it's pushed for is hypocritical.

First they say, "There are too many straight white male heroes. Women and POC and LGBTQ people need characters they can relate to!"

Then they say, "If a straight white man is whining because he can't relate to a character that isn't a straight white man, something is wrong with him."

So, which is it? Can we only relate to characters who are our gender, race, and sexuality, or can we not? You're giving mixed messages, here.

I thought the way Luke was portrayed in TLJ was the best thing in the movie and people who disliked it are just wrong
