I would advise you to be casual about it, maybe just bring it up at the end of another discussion, tell her that 'oh hey, I used to be really annoying and hung out here... yeah. I'm better now, and I want to say I'm sorry about everything.' I don't think she has much reason to reject an honest apology, and at most will probably have moved on. And if you really have changed, well... I don't think she's going to hold it against you that much.

I don't know WHAT it is about the Sheik-situation that caused such a stir and made everyone refuse to see Zelda as Sheik, but I have made my peace with it now. Honestly, I just advice everyone to do the same: it's grown into this massive THING that I don't think anyone can do anything about: fume as much as one wants about how it's kinda shitty to just deny that Zelda was ever progressive enough to make her own moves throughout Huryle, but the forces at work here are forces that no sense can work on. I have given up, and advice everyone else to do the same, it will save you a lot of time and headaches.

113. There is something so strange about the Superior Fan competition that has been running throughout fandoms since the dawn of Star Trek. It makes me imagine Tyra Banks monotoning, “There are 13 fangirls left, but I only have 12 Orlando Bloom/Viggo Mortensen photoshops in my hands.”

And then the one fangirl is cut from the competition, and she collapses in a weepy mess because she skipped her high school graduation to be here and they had dyed her hair black and turned it into a choppy mess for her Zack cosplay. And Tyra would lecture her for her tears, because this is proof that she didn’t want this enough, she wasn’t committed enough for being America’s Next Top Fangirl. Also, her squeeing needs more work, and her latest Joker secret lacked shock value.

139. And many “Mary Sue” characters are also bashed for the faults that they do have (and they do have them! As well-rounded characters should!) So some people try to have it both ways.

Um....how about those of us who watched those series BEFORE anyone knew what the fuck they were? Do we suddenly have to stop liking them because they are popular?

I like a lot of those series, and in many cases, particularly the Shounen Jump ones, I liked them before an anime was even concieved of. Or before anyone knew what the fuck they were. And hell, even the series I got into later I still have every right to like them. It has NOTHING to do with other people, it has to do with what *I* like. In all honesty, I'd have LIKED it if a lot of these series hadn't blown up, because it would mean the fandom wouldn't be as crazy. But what can you do? I won't disown is because other people like it.

I do like many series that are unheard of as well, or are not "major names", so I know this technically doesn't apply to me. But you know what? You can still suck my non-existant cock.
