Pie. I fail at the crust, and the inside always ends up too watery.

I will cop to cheating and using ready made pie crusts. Have you tried putting a little arrowroot in your fruit pie filling? that often helps it not be runny.

Ooo, no I have not. My mother uses tapioca, but it hasn't worked for me so far. Maybe I'll try arrowroot next time.

I advise cooking longer on a lower heat.

Does it have to absolutely be a regular crust?

I don't particularly care for either shortening or butter crusts, so I tend to go for crumb crusts, but there is also a really easy and nice cream cheese crust:

Ingredients
1/2 cup cream cheese
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (salted) butter

Directions
Soften cream cheese and butter and mix together incorporating flour a little at a time.
Roll out with a rolling pin between 2 wax papers. Transfer to a 9-inch pie plate and prick with fork before half-baking to prevent shrinkage. Bake for about 10 minutes at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

It has a little tang to it. You can add a 1/4 teaspoon baking powder to it to increase the flakiness and/or 1/4 cup sugar to give a bit of sweetness.
