Still have a sore throat. Made it through my court hearing this morning and then came home. Spent some time on Flightrising, bought some new dragons.

Not too busy. Snack day today but no one ate my cobbler. ;_; Got a text from our PD saying the power in certain areas is going to be out at 6 for an hour. Apparently they need to do some kind of emergency repair. So, in 15 minutes I will know if I am in that area.

Crawled my clinically depressed ass to work today! And actually did work, go me!

(That's more than I did yesterday, which was 'twenty hours of sleep v. four awake'.)

It's my birthday and I feel old. My partner cooked and we watched How To Train Your Dragon 2 and that scene had me in floods of tears. Like I was still sniffling ten minutes later. Then my partner went out for the afternoon to get the car fixed and I did some depressed housework. I haven't cried at a film like that since Coco.

I have an appointment at the dentist tomorrow and I'll probably get another scolding about flossing.

omg my gran voted to leave the eu and today went off on a rant about how the eu stops us from having paperboys and getting milk delivered to our doorstops. we can still get both. the we don't bother. i nearly imploded.

It's been surprise-heavy, and it's all my own fault. I've been listening to waaaaaaaay too many podcasts about terrorism and white supremacist groups, which lead myself to having a good, long car think on if I'm radicalizing myself in the opposite direction, which... I guess if it stays in the realm of "fuck Nazis" it's not so bad.

Also got a comment on a six year old fanfic and I'm scared to look.

Did a fair amount of training for this project.
Frankly it doesn't seem like the people running it know a thing about...well, anything, but I'm being paid.

Moping that I just got my ass kicked by Mr. Shakedown when he had like no health left, and that I just lost a bunch of progress because I quit the game rather than just sucking it up.

Very long. Most of my co-workers and I had to attend a meeting in the next city over, and in order to get there in time we had to leave from work way earlier than most of us get there, which meant I had to wake up really early. Unfortunately, I couldn't get to bed early, and then fear of not waking up in time woke me up twice during the night, so now I'm exhausted. My parents are coming to visit this weekend and I have a lot of cleaning to do and don't know whether I am just going to collapse in bed or try to get some of the chores done tonight so there's less to do tomorrow.

Long but not awful. But I got my work schedule for next week and I'm on for six days of 8-hour shifts straight, starting today. Not looking forward to that horseshit. But I do have next Friday and Saturday off.

I went to the nursery and talked myself out of buying another tea plant by quizzing an employee about what I was doing wrong; the answer is “it’s too hot and dry here,” which explains why I’ve killed two little potted tea bushes and my third is on it’s way out. I just really like the idea of growing my own tea; other camellias do great here, and herb tea isn’t the same. I may end up buying one of the bigger bushes eventually anyway.

Then I left without buying anything and went to the snooty organic grocery store and got some tabouli and sesame tofu and some ingredients for veggie soup, and got caught in the rain coming home. I had a little folding umbrella, but it was really windy so I got pretty wet anyway. Now the sun’s out again.

My cat was happy that I woke up extra early to listen to AUSSIE RULES FOOTY!!! Finally the seasons started again, and Carlton almost won... kinda! Go Blues!

We had really weird "nicknames" for certain foods growing up and I still don't know how some of them started. A baguette was "cutty bread," cheesy pasta was "taggy cheese" (would have made some sense if we used tagliatelle, we didn't) veggie burgers were "huxleys" and Hobnob biscuits were... "flugelhorns" (why?)

Calling spiders centaurs because as a kid I hated even hearing the word and I still use it sometimes now which tends to get confused looks.

Though a guldie of mine says spidlers and I've started using that more since it tends to be less confusing, though still a little odd.

When we get you not actually angry at each other arguments, we yell (or type) FOUFN or family off until further notice. Also, do it with friends.

I confused my therapist earlier this week by saying, "There's a lid for every pot." (Might be a regional thing as much as a family thing too since my therapist & I grew up in different places.)

Saying "that black piece of furniture" pointing at something one of us has been looking for when it was right in front of us the whole time. It comes from an old sketch from Argentinian comedy group Les Luthiers where the pianist can't find the piano that's right there on the stage until one of his companions points it out.

A lot of random quotes from Les Luthiers, really.

"He was possessed!" "Yes, and he had eaten a lot too."

"And they lived happily ever after and they ate like pigs."

"She was pregnant, the foolish girl!" (Talking about a moth)

What decorating styles and colors do you like right now?

I am loving that houseplants are so big right now.

I'm still a sucker for the more 'rugged' look, no white, beige, or clean sterile lines as far as I'm concerned. I like life where I'm living.
