Just because they won't be having sex on screen doesn't mean their relationship isn't going to get more focus in the last 3 movies.

Even if the latest movie didn't do as well as the others, its still a very successful franchise. They're not going to cancel it unless it absolutely bombs or she turns out to be a child molester.

I hate the whole leap of 'just because they aren't having sex on screen'... NO one is seriously asking for that, anon. Wanting representation to be clear in the canon instead of in the author's notes and interviews is not the same as asking for a graphic sex scene on screen.

Also, I don't care what 'might happen' in the future. I see this excuse thrown around as well for a lot of things, like, 'just wait for it, it could still happen, so you don't have the right to be upset it didn't happen, because it still could.' Like the idea that it could should still be enough.

Hell, maybe the backlash will actually accomplish something and she will actually do something in the following movies. That's my hope.

I'd be more upset if what we already got wasn't more representation than most mainstream non-LGBT movies get.

I think what adds to the issue is that J.K. Rowling seems to want to portray herself as being very open-minded and an ally, but then when she has the chance to push a little harder (being the writer and producer on the film) she...doesn't do anything on screen, but continues to talk about it in interviews.

Again, my hope is that the outrage and upset will actually cause some influence in the right direction. At this point in my life I am sick of writers doing the bare minimum for representation and calling it a day. For the ones who are truly unable to do so because of 'higher ups' censoring them, it's the discontent of the fans that will hopefully convince those higher ups to let them do more.

The question is whether, when they spend time focusing on it, it's portrayed as a romantic relationship on screen or not.
