Yeah, I agree. Entry to the Good Omens fandom required basic literacy due to, yknow, the source material being a book. I look forward to the show coming out, but it's not doing any favors to the fandom. Fanfic sites will be overwhelmed with the type of bad writing you see in people who only ever read fanfiction, so you can expect all manner of basic grammatical and writing errors. I'm a part of anime and video game fandoms, and they're so plagued by abominable writing that I don't even bother checking fanfic for them anymore. Good Omens fandom may not get that bad, but it will take longer to weed through the crap to get to the gold. I'm also sad that all the fan art from now on is going to look like the actors. I preferred it when people came up with their own interpretations.

"the type of bad writing you see in people who only ever read fanfiction"

People generally get a lot of pushback for saying this, but I'm with you 100%. There's a significant difference between seeing the fanfic produced in fandoms based solely on books than fandoms that are TV/movie based. Obviously not every writer who reads mostly fanfic is bad... but it's a little silly to pretend like there's not some correlation.
