I think buying from Amazon or Walmart is worse than buying from Chick-Fil-A. Chick-Fil-A treats its employee's better and every mega corp funds reprehensible things. It's more of a pick your poison type of deal.

I would find it slightly different in that Chick-Fil-A goes out of its way to do the bad things it does. Whereas Amazon and Walmart do it as a matter of business.

The distinction between "not caring about the harmful collateral effects of action X" and "intentionally going out of its way to specifically do harmful action X."

I'm not saying any of these companies are good, to be clear.

I don't boycott for ideological reasons, but I have totally boycotted Amazon, and I am extremely concerned about the direction we're headed if they are left unchecked to keep monopolizing. Since I started my boycott (about 6 months ago), I've discovered that it's really hard to actually find stock in brick-and-mortar stores. You go, and shelves are bare. Where you used to have 5 choices of socks, e.g., you now have 2-3. Often I have just gone without because I couldn't find something locally and didn't want to pay shipping from a site other than Amazon.

And since I know someone will chime in with the usual refrain of CAPITALISM BAD - no, I don't believe capitalism is bad. I love capitalism. I love the choices and creature comforts it has made possible. My concern is corporations, particularly those that actually grow so large that they LIMIT the choices that capitalism is meant to provide.

I think any fan of capitalism and free market principles would be for busting monopolies, to be fair :)

Well yeah, but it's amazing how many people automatically associate corporatism with capitalism.

It's one of those tricky things where "capitalism" can mean a bunch of different things and it frequently ends up being very if-by-whiskey.

I don't buy from any of them unless i'm forced to (I live in a super-small town without a lot of shopping options). Don't see there has to be a 'worse' - they all suck.
