I've been in HP fandom since the early 2000s. For the most part, I don't think people hate JKR. I think her work inspires such passion in people that they feel almost personally attacked when she takes it in a direction they don't like.

But then there are also the "fans" who go on and on about how problematic she is for [insert woke agenda], and that's tiring because it feels like all the typical performative outrage we're constantly bombarded with. But I don't think they hate her, either.

AYRT: Me too. You're probably right that "hate" is strong, but I do feel she was constantly being criticized by fans. I do think you're right that they felt almost personally attacked because of how passionate they got.

I actually think it's a testament to the strength of her work that it inspires such passion.

But the endless criticism is really annoying, yeah.
