That's kind of what I was thinking. Like yes, these things can be fetishized but they can also exist in a non-fetish context?

Yeah, this. Sometimes I get the feeling that people conflate an artist/writer's style and favorite themes with them having a fetish. Also I kinda side-eye when the term is applied to things in kids' shows, especially when those shows have 'non-mainstream' themes in them.
