138. The second he chose her for VP I realized my theories about his views towards women were right. He doesn't care if they're smart or successful, of course it's nice if they are, but he's interested ONLY in attractive women. He will ONLY surround himself with attractive women. He makes fun of Janet Reno and Chelsea Clinton, he left his first wife because she became "ugly." It really solidified things for me. Honestly, he seems so shallow and boring to me now. I like Megan McCain a lot, but would he hide his daughter on his campaign trail if she wasn't beautiful?

169. Um... no? I've been a Batman fan my whole life and as long as I can remember, Batman isn't supposed to be "kind of a dick." Batman is a loner, he's kind of weird, but with a very strong moral compass. He's absolutely not supposed to be "kind of a dick" or ever intended to be one. o_O Seriously, I have no problem with you not liking TDK, but you miss the point of the title character entirely.

178. I'll never know what Jareth wanted. XD Well, I do know he could always use more product and more leotards, lawl. I love this movie, and I think David Bowie's package in his periwinkle tights was the first time I had seen anything like that besides the plastic "bump" of a Ken doll. XD I was only like TWO when it came out, and I think around four or five when I first saw it.

How do you figure that? Honestly, I don't think Bob Kane ever intended Batman to be a jerk. Not that I've seen in any canon, btw. Unless by jerk you mean he can't have a stable relationship with any women, he frequently alienates friends and people in his life and seems cold and aloof a lot of the time. I think he's just very eccentric, but he means well. I would say "meaning well" doesn't make someone a jerk, personally.

I feel like discussion of definitions doesn't necessitate being annonymous, SO....

This may just be a disagreement over definitions, as the way you describe him above seems "jerky" to me, but you know, it's not exactly a precise term!

Yeah, there's no clear definition for jerk, it's mostly personal definition. I personally don't consider Batman a jerk, maybe just cold. To each their own though!

I think that's exactly what people mean when they say he's kind of a dick. They're still loyal to him because they know he's awesome too, but...I remember there was a scene in...I think it was the Bruce Wayne: Murderer? arc? Where Batman admits, "I can be difficult." And the rest of the family just stares at him in shock and then kind of says...yeah, you can.

Whether one agrees with it or not, Batman's reputation as a dick comes from canon for most people that I've seen.

Well there are permanent torrents up on my tracker, but you can always poke around for direct downloads (they'd be friends-locked) on the BuriMyu comm, burimyu.

IIRC there are also some up on youtube, I think? But yes--you very much do need to see these :D There is some delicious crack, the actors (and actresses XD) are hot and made of awesome, and the music is surprisingly good and catchy~

Buddy, the reason I don't like Batman is because he is a dick :) Just look at how badly he messed over Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown, hell, even Dick Grayson when he kicked him out.

Then you've got him setting up plans to take down the JLA without them knowing, to being incredibly hostile to a just-returned Hal Jordan (I can understand him being skeptical in that situation, but was just downright cold).


For the most part, I don't think this is so much a fault of Batman's as, say, Batman fanboys writing about him interacting with the DCU at large, while still trying to make him seem that much cooler and that much more powerful than everyone else.


sorry about the length of this, and if it seemed snarky. I take batdickery very seriously (somewhat :P) I agree with you about the "strong, moral compass" bit, though. The people who REALLY missed the point of Batman are those who thought he should've killed Joker at the end.

I haven't, nope. And I always though Dick Grayson leaving Wayne Manor was a mututal thing. I still don't consider him an asshole, though. >.> I would call Kratos from God of War an asshole, but I don't think Batman is, I think he just doesn't like people easily and it's hard for him to maintain a friendship or a relationship.

Originally Dick left Batman's side of his own free will, but then writers retconned it and made it so Batman denied him as a partner for something remarkably dumb like breaking a bone.

Just have to say, I don't think that really counts as "batdickery." Batman sat down and came up with ways to take down the JLA, yes. He knew they'd react exactly the way they did, if they had known, but he also knew that these measures were needed in case something happened and one of them went rogue, and needed to be taken down... and, in the end, it's a damn good thing he did it because it was necessary. Just like he knew it might be. He had foresight, and it wasn't nice or sparkly-sweet, it was underhanded and a bit cold, but completely the intelligent thing for him to have done, and the right thing.

I agree though, Batman can be kind of a dick. XD That was the only part of your post I disagreed with, actually.

I wish I was. I don't even HATE McCain, but it's becoming harder and harder for me to have any respect for him. As of right now, I'm really terrified he's going to lead this country, and I don't think things can get much worse than the Bush administration, but he's certainly not going to make them better. Not with his crappy little harem mentality.
