The Jussie case

So... What the fuck?

I'll say this much. I found Smollet's initial story weird and unlikely. I find the idea that the Chicago DA would drop 16 felony charges for lying to police for no reason other than "community service" about 10x weirder and less likely.

I, frankly, can't believe that even the most blatant corruption could get you out of something like this. When the whole establishment and law enforcement community is against it? When everybody hates the guy? Doesn't wash at all. Even if it was possible, I don't think Smollet has that kind of money.

The only thing that makes any sense to me is that there was some kind of misconduct going on. Either police or prosecutorial.

The FBI has straight up said the Chicago PD was mishandling the case, so yeah, misconduct (or at minimum gross negligence) is pretty damn likely.

But is Jussie guilty or not?

That's the fun thing about misconduct and gross negligence: it no longer matters if your suspect is guilty. Don't contaminate your casework, kiddos, it can all be thrown out.

Shit, OJ was guilty as sin and LAPD framed him anyway
