I'm still up for it if Whedon isn't doing it, otherwise.....

I agree completely. He doesn't understand her character at all. He's the worst choice.

He doesn't get the whole damn *verse*. He's still stuck in quippy-kicky-smol-girl-kicks-ass land, and it's time to move on.

Yup. I enjoyed the first Avengers movie. Still do. It was just fun. But there wasn't a whole lot of great characterization. And then Ultron had just as little characterization while at the same time being a whole lot less fun.

YES. The first Avengers was a good movie for showing us how they became a team, giving us a little characterization, kind of thing. Laying a foundation.

But AoU just smashed that all to bits. It was like 'i have some one liners, now fill in with CGI battle stuff'. Meh.

My canon does not contain AoU.

This so much.

tbh I’m much more down for an Okoye movie than a Black Widow one now, especially if it involves Nakia and Shuri backing her up

A movie starring Okoye, Nakia, and Shuri would be the best thing ever. I'd pay to see it a dozen times.

I don't consider ScarJo that great an actor, so I agree.

I mean, I wouldn't mind a BW movie if someone likeable had portrayed the role from the beginning.

Slightly off-topic but this picture is the first time I've ever seen that hair and actually thought I like it.

I reeeeeally wanted a Black Widow film in like 2013.

I'll probably still go see this to show there's an interest even though my personal interest kinda waned. I really can't believe they didn't take advantage of the post-Avengers hype for her at the time tbh.

yep, 2013 was about the last time a black widow movie would have made sense or was actually wanted. now it feels insane and insulting to finally deign to make a movie about her after they've given one to any prick that wanted one.

I'm excited to see what the character and the actress are capable of in the hands of a good writer/director, and I hope I'm not disappointed.

And this doesn't preclude an Okoye movie; we need all the female-character-headlining movies, and we need them yesterday.
