I don't want to share identifying information, but one of my favourite people died recently. She was a badass old lady and shit stirrer of epic proportions. She was the first woman to compete illegally in a sport against men in my country, and fought for it to be legal for women to do so. She was the awesome kind of feminist who made so many things possible for my generation and I benefitted not only from her teaching but I was able to compete because of her.

She was also a very close friend who was like family to me. I was welcome at her house any time of the day or night, there was always food on the table and someone to hug. I can't explain how much I needed that when I was a kid. I remember how much effort she made to listen to me and to build up my self esteem. She was the first person to tell me that I didn't deserve to be yelled at or hit no matter what mistakes I made. I can't imagine my life if I'd never known her and I'm so glad I did.

She's the kind of crazy amazing person who deserves to have movies made about her.

I’m sorry, OP, that you lost such an awesome person who was kind to you.
