Fun story: up until just the other day, I thought this show was about a lady detective. I also thought it took place in Canada in the 1940s. Basically, I thought it was a Canadian Mrs. Bradley Mysteries/Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries type thing. I have no idea why I thought any of that.

Even when I heard it was about a woman in 1950s New York becoming a stand-up comic, I was like "So she dabbles in comedy when she's not solving mysteries?"

I'm still having trouble letting go of the mystery solving thing.

I just can't. Even leaving aside the fact that the whole show was building up to Ted/Mother only to have her die at the last minute, it just doesn't work. The whole show, and the last few seasons especially, made it abundantly clear why Ted and Robin didn't work. That ending would have worked earlier in the show's run. But it did not work anymore, and the showrunners sticking to an ending that made no sense anymore was dumb.

Even when there's no demand for it to appeal sexually to the person who's being critical? You can have opinions about style when it's a choice made for a fictional character. If a real person is comfortable dressing like Vanya for example that's none of my business, but nothing about Umbrella Academy makes me think there's an interesting reason for the way she dresses any more than there is for the robot mom wearing some kind of bullshit Hot Topic nurse costume. It feels like they made Vanya as unfeminine as possible to accentuate her low self-esteem.

I wear non-fitted/men's clothes all the time, but clothes that are too big I don't get. They're not warm.

I really liked this book, but at the same time, I think both Monty and Felicity were dicks. I did read the next book to see if Felicity was any different when we weren't looking at her through her brother's eyes, but nah, she was still a dick. Guess it runs in the family. I really liked Percy though and Dante was sweet.

I just wonder whether he was really that stuck in childhood, but more pathetically so than previously acknowledged, OR if he completely played up the "Peter Pan Syndrome" thing to get away with what he did. I haven't watched the documentary, I don't think I could stomach it, but I grew up when he was popular and remember how he was always saying he never got to be a real kid. It probably made parents a LOT more inclined to trust him with their kids.
