I have a dirty lens about the psychological aspect of it, so I'm sure this will be slanted af.

I've known lots of folks who study psychology, sometimes even to pursue a career in the field. Unfortunately, I've known a handful of learn just enough to use it as a weapon against someone else. Usually, it would involved attacking a completely human reaction/emotion and slapping a psychological reason on it in a negative way. "Well, you didn't grow up without a father, so now you're doomed to chase unhappy relationships with older men and that's bad. You can't fix it but you should be shamed for it anyway" and things like that.

I'll admit I haven't seen a lot of cases where someone used psychology to make themselves out to be the victim, so like I said, dirty lens. But nine or ten years is a long time to research enough things about psychology, about how a predatory mind works, and about how a victim may be affected by this...and come up with a graphic enough tale to shock the masses. Obviously, this is just speculation and I have no proof of this, and I'm completely aware that a victim coming forward after a perpetrator is dead shouldn't automatically mean that the victim is lying. But reflecting on the documentary, it feels like some details are conveniently omitted for the sake of selling this story. Maybe there is some truth to it, but it might not be the truth we're all so eager to believe.

And fuck the parents. It was their job to protect their children but it was more important to whore out their sons for a few selfish benefits.
