It's hard to find these guys' stories believable if you research them for longer than 5 minutes.

Really? I have researched, and I found it extremely believable. They were pretty clearly traumatized and unable to talk about it until now. Particularly in the case of the one who now has a son. They are acting in a completely believable way for two traumatized men who didn't want to think about or talk about it, didn't even really understand it, and were denying it to themselves.

Honestly, though, the parents come across as bad as Jackson. The parents seemed perfectly fine putting their kids in situations that were clearly not okay just because it was Michael Jackson and they wanted the fame and money.

Right, well, looking at the actual evidence, timelines, and testimonies associated with their claims and not my emotions about how they seemed in the documentary, I disagree.

that last section is the only thing i've really agreed with you on so far.

I have a dirty lens about the psychological aspect of it, so I'm sure this will be slanted af.

I've known lots of folks who study psychology, sometimes even to pursue a career in the field. Unfortunately, I've known a handful of learn just enough to use it as a weapon against someone else. Usually, it would involved attacking a completely human reaction/emotion and slapping a psychological reason on it in a negative way. "Well, you didn't grow up without a father, so now you're doomed to chase unhappy relationships with older men and that's bad. You can't fix it but you should be shamed for it anyway" and things like that.

I'll admit I haven't seen a lot of cases where someone used psychology to make themselves out to be the victim, so like I said, dirty lens. But nine or ten years is a long time to research enough things about psychology, about how a predatory mind works, and about how a victim may be affected by this...and come up with a graphic enough tale to shock the masses. Obviously, this is just speculation and I have no proof of this, and I'm completely aware that a victim coming forward after a perpetrator is dead shouldn't automatically mean that the victim is lying. But reflecting on the documentary, it feels like some details are conveniently omitted for the sake of selling this story. Maybe there is some truth to it, but it might not be the truth we're all so eager to believe.

And fuck the parents. It was their job to protect their children but it was more important to whore out their sons for a few selfish benefits.

Thank you.

There's something dishonest about this whole documentary (which I watched all four hours of, including the Oprah interview afterward) that I couldn't put my finger on.

It's also interesting that Wade in particular suffered breakdowns after trying to get hired by the Jackson estate for some projects. One could say it was for the reason he stated, but I'm having a hard time believing money isn't a factor. (And yes, I'm aware it could even be a mix of the two, but something just isn't adding up in the doc.)

I wasn't sure whether to believe WR, but when I saw Safechuck, the scales dropped from my eyes. Whatever the 'relationship,' they were damaged kids - they truly were the Lost Boys :-/
