(Anonymous) 2019-03-30 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)But if we are going to compare, Klaus was isolated as a child but only for days (maybe a week) at a time.
Vanya was never actually completely isolated because she had Grace/Pogo/Reginald to visit her to feed her and such. Also, it was never shown that she was actually kept there for long? Not sure where you got months from.
Luther was sent to solitary confinement for YEARS. It is amazing he didn't end up killing himself or having a psychotic break.

(Anonymous) 2019-03-30 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)Vanya was made to stay in an isolation chamber underground by herself and while Grace/Pogo/Reginald visited I don't think they hung around to chat or play games with her. I said months because her hair was longer when she left the chamber as a very young child. She was begging to be let out of the chamber and explain and made to watch her brothers and sisters leave when she was locked up for the second time.
Luther was told the trip to the moon was a mission. He had a sense of purpose. He can walk around on the moon instead of staying in a closed space.
It's amazing that all three of them didn't end up killing themselves and Vanya had a psychotic break at the end of the series.

(Anonymous) 2019-03-30 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)A sense of purpose means NOTHING when you are in that kind of situation.
I am not sure why you are trying to downplay the horrible things Luther went through, but you do you.

(Anonymous) 2019-03-30 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)I know Luther's your fave but all the siblings went through horrible things.

(Anonymous) 2019-03-30 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)Klaus and Vanya were forcibly locked in and not allowed leave until Reginald said so.
THEY HAD NO CHOICE.

(Anonymous) 2019-03-30 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)Luther was raised in an isolated group with his siblings. Not only that, his father had changed him (after nearly dying) in a way that caused clear body dysmorphia and shame. Instead of getting help for this, Luther was sent into even more isolation while struggling to deal with this horrific new body.
His father had isolated him socially from anyone that could help him. He was brainwashed into believing his father loved and knew exactly what was best for him. He felt a duty to do what his father wanted because he loved him.
So, I get that you have some kind of hate boner for Luther. But how dare you try to downplay the kind of psychological abuse he suffered because "someone had it worse!!" That is demeaning to actual people who have suffered such abuse.

(Anonymous) 2019-03-31 01:30 am (UTC)(link)Look, I'm not arguing Luther was emotionally capable of leaving the moon, only that if he ever found the wherewithal to do so he physically could if he wanted to.
Klaus and Vanya* couldn't escape their prisons no matter how they felt or what they did. That's being in a literal prison. That's being a literal prisoner.
