Aww this is a very sweet secret.

I've been drawn to the same type lately. I think for me because life has been full of pretty awful people winning, and I just like solid Good characters. It's a nice imagine to get lost in for a bit.

Me too. I know enough jerks and dicks in real life. Give me someone unarguably good.

Same. I think it's as I've gotten older(and I'm not even that old lmao) I've come to really appreciate genuinely kind and good characters. There's so many jerks out there, so seeing people on-screen just being good is something I'm really drawn to.

I still enjoy dickish villains, always will I think, but I love me some legit good-guy heroes too.

Yes! I can't get invested in a character if I don't think they're a good person or trying to do something good even if they're maybe not very nice.

I recently made a secret about not liking a show if it has no "good" characters. I don't care how entertaining it should be, I just can't enjoy it.

I've liked shows with no "good" characters, but mostly for the sake of laughing at their pettiness and drama. But for shows I LOVE? Yeah, no, gotta have good people in that or it's a total joke to me.

Saaaaaame. I don't care if people call them boring, give me my nice boring characters over assholes any day.

(Anonymous) 2019-04-02 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I hit this point a long time ago. If you want me to care about your protagonist's problems, make me care about your protagonist. If everyone's an asshole, I immediately skip it.

This is what killed any interest in Altered Carbon for me, and it's slowing my interest in Umbrella Academy. I don't need negative people in my downtime, thank you.

Same OP. Same.
