after tumblr?

I know this was never a big tumblr crowd, but anyone know where the bulk of people/fandom went to after the tumblr nsfw mess? The small circle that I follow seems to have dried up, but nobody seems to have said where they were going.

I think a lot of people took to twitter? There was the whole Pillowfort thing as well but it was still in closed beta back during the purge, idk about now.

There's also Mastodon, which is more a Twitter replacement than a Tumblr replacement, but same principle. But at the end of the day, it's always the same story with those sites - it's almost impossible for a social network to get a critical mass of new users without some kind of qualitative differentiator in terms of new and more powerful features.

Most of my fandom friends went to Twitter. But it's not as good for sharing artwork, so idk if there's anywhere better :\

I think lots of people moved to Twitter, which sucks. Especially since they decided they need to show you every single post a person you follow liked for some reason. It's super annoying.

I actually feel like they've been good about not showing me that stuff, ever. I stay on the "latest tweets" page on the Twitter app pretty much exclusively and they don't try and push me to anything else.

Yesssss I find twitter so annoying. If your feed was just who you followed in chronological order (like originally) I'd think about it, but I find the feed so fucking annoying. I've tried a couple of times, because that seems to be where the Critical Role fandom is, but I just get so annoyed with it each time I bail.

Make a private list! It'll list tweets chronologically.

Twitter, Discord, or nonexistence, most likely. Also unlike other people ITT I don't mind twitter but discord is annoying because it's less public / accessible.

I prefer the less public stuff, so Discord would work for me but I've yet to find a group there I jive with.

I just have too much anxiety tbh. The thought of, like, asking someone where to go and starting posting in a new chat room just very much does not work for me. Whereas Twitter, you have your own timeline where you can go to post shit and you can easily reply to specific individuals.

I have no effing clue. :( I was hoping there'd be a resurgence in the journal format here on DW but it seems that age has truly passed us by. People like their rebageling.

Some people went off to A03 and are trying to build a presence over there, both in terms of fanfiction and fanart.

How do you mean? They're just focused on centralizing posted work? Or does AO3 have a function I'm unaware of.

Twitter. By the time the tumblr purge came, people already had twitter and where already moving into it.

People had the idea to move to Pillowfort, but it was in beta at the time. Now you have to purchase a registration key to get an account ($5), so I can see why people turned away from it. There's also Discord but I don't really delve much into it to know about them.

Too many different places, I can't keep up. :( I'm still on tumblr for some friends that remained but it's different somehow. (Also I still get pornbot follows, they just use 'sfw' images but link to nsfw stuff, it's bloody stupid.)

I honestly haven't noticed anyone leaving tumblr.
