The servant who she'd never even thought about, and when Shasta asked what she thought happened to her, her response was, 'Meh, I expect she was beaten, I don't care, she's just my step-mother's slave.'

Aravis was in a terrible spot and I think the escape plot she came up with was the best she could do. On the other hand, I do think she's also selfish and thoughtlessly privileged and not good at seeing people who are not aristocrats as people.

I'm not mad about the whole mauling-as-teachable-moment sequence, but I can also see what Lewis was driving at, even if he didn't execute it brilliantly.
