Went for my run, then got sushi for lunch. Took a little nap with my dog. Bought a bouquet of flowers for myself. Got Starbucks. Getting ready for dinner right now.

Oh man. It is killing me I won't be able to see it right away. I'm out of the country and busy until May 4th.

I hope to see it Friday morning to avoid the majority of idiots who want to ruin a fifteen dollar show, but then I remember there were still idiots snoring through Captain Marvel or using their goddamn smartphone flashlight app during Black Panther, so... eh, we'll see what happens. Probably will have to pack some tissues or some shit.

Thankfully, we have adults only theater rooms where they are very gungho about stopping idiots.

Ha! The offenders in question were adults.

I'll have to look into theatres who are serious about their offenders, though.

Allergies are killing me. Then the road I take to work was closed and the detour was only marked part-way. So I got really lost. Work was okay. Now I'm home. Half asleep because I took all the antihistimines.

I feel like that's probably a good thing? I mean, YMMV I guess, but I feel like low voices are rarely unpleasant. Plus, it's not fair at all, but people totally tend to take low-voiced people more seriously.

Yeah, it's not a bad thing. I just didn't think it was as low as it apparently is. Now I kinda want to see other people try

Trying to write a condolence card. Still at it.

Speaking as someone who had a recent death in the family, short and sweet is best. It's doubtful the bereaved will have the will or time to do more than glance at it anyway, and a big long message might make them feel obligated to respond.

"I'm so sorry for your loss", "My thoughts are with you and your family", etc. are good. Maybe if you have a genuine one, share a very short memory of the deceased. "Your grandma always made the best fart jokes."

Thank you. Yes, I have been writing a draft before I write on the card.

I've made it a lot shorter than it was, but it's still a couple of brief paragraphs. I wouldn't feel right making it too brief or impersonal because I was very close with the whole family when I was younger.

Thank you for the suggestion about including a memory. It helped.

I had work, or whatever.

But more importantly, today on Twitter there was a girl who runs a Taylor Swift update twitter who came back to the Internet after going to prison for several months because she wouldn't join the IDF and it was very entertaining

thank god for the Internet

Called my vet’s office, was told she was out of town until tomorrow and to go to the “avian and exotic” vet who told me he’d wring my hen’s neck right then if her test results came back positive for Marek’s and was generally rough and cruel.

Made an appointment with my vet for tomorrow, knowing I’ll probably have to put my hand-raised imprinted hen down, and was a basket case having random crying jags at work.

Headed home now. Have to pay the second half of my property taxes tomorrow, a bit over a month’s wages, then vet bills and will probably have to bury my pet, and the replacement adapter for my ancient-by-flatscreen standards tv is supposed to come in tomorrow. Please for the love of fuck at least let my tv work; I can’t afford to replace it. And my plan to go to the zoo after paying my taxes, because my pass is up at the end of the month, suddenly sounds like a recipe for crying a lot in public. If my tv works I can wallow in misery and finally watch Into the Spider Verse, with my cat on my lap since she doesn’t mind if I weep on her.
