I don't actually hate Jon. There's only two characters in the show (I haven't finished the books) that I actually hate (Theon, but I don't hate him anymore, and Alliser Thorne) but Jon does not in any way excite me, interest me, or inspire my imagination. My sister thinks that the story needs him to be a paragon and the moral center of the show. That might be true but I still don't care if he lives or dies. Maybe it's partly because of Kit Harrington's completely straight forward portrayal of the character? Mostly I think it's how he's written as being nigh incorruptible.

What actually makes Daenerys an interesting and engaging character to me is that she could be a handful of choices away from going evil and I would believe that character turn. Jon is not human enough to have the chance to go dark side. He's too perfect.
