Your P.S. is spot on. I absolutely love his worldbuilding in Naruto . The world is so messed up (Konoha itself is like a house of horrors). The ending was way too innocent and upbeat and hopeful for what had come before.

I was so annoyed at the ending lmao. I love the messed up way the world was and the ending was just like 'and now it's all cool!' yeahno, I don't want that!

The ending made me want to throw everything through a window, what the actual fuck was that, there was so much to unpack. The politics and the logistics and the social implications that were right there to explore and.... what. No payoff. Absolutely no payoff.

I should have seen it coming after the three year timeskip and all the character development that actually HAD happened vanished into nothing for no good reason oh my god.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHY WE HAVE FANFICTION.
