Re: What's something that's happened to you that sounds like it's fiction?

I've told this one before, but my mother running away to another country with my sister leaving my dad in debt, finding out she'd created a bunch of fake identities online to lure men, finding out she'd been planning it all for a long-ass time and had done it to previous husbands, and then never hearing from her again. She was weird.

Haha, for real. When I met one of my best friends in college he didn't believe any of it until he met my dad and he confirmed it. Then found out that my brother was my half-brother, which my dad assumed I knew so it was a super awkward moment.

A) That is ROUGH. I am sorry.

B) That is BANANAS. I am fascinated. Seems like nobody buys anybody free drinks anymore, but if they did, I feel like this would be a free-drinks-for-life level story.

Thanks. :) And yeah, it's pretty nuts. There's so many more layers to it, like it just goes on and on. We got bizarre phone calls from confused men in other countries who thought she had a completely different name/life story and none of them knew she had a husband and kids. At some point she'd stopped socializing in person, like she'd been carefully distancing herself from people/other family near to home over the years so nobody would look for her. She didn't have any friends, connections, nothing, it's like she never existed. She pulled it off really well in a way, I guess.

Sorry for rambling, haha. There's a lot of layers to this weird drama onion.

That really is crazy. And must've sucked royally.

It seems like this kind of deception must be getting harder and harder to sustain these days, with how much information is out there on the internet, about everyone. Hopefully this kind of thing is happening less and less, because damn. Nobody should ever have to go through that kind of mindfuckery.

I'm so sorry, that's crazy. Did you ever hear from your sister again?
