Eeesh. That's fucking messed up but if it comes from tumblr, I'm not even surprised anymore. I've seen some serious harrasment and pedo-calling to people who shipped any underage character. (Remember Sheith, anyone?). And all done under the banner of justice, when they actually want the other party to "STOP SHIPPING WHAT I DON'T LIKE!!!1!1"

(One time I unintentionally stumbled through tags upon a post where a user was calling an 18yo's work to inform them she was a pedophile and should be fired. All because she shipped anime characters that happened to be 1) underage and 2) a ship the other person hated. And yes, she recorded the call and posted in on tumblr while threatening to keep calling until she ruined the other girls' life if she didn't quit. Some fine folks, indeed.)

I will never get over how they took something as non-problematic as Sheith and attached the 'pedophile' label' to it, and even after revealing Keith was 18, they continued to cry it was STILL pedophila because Shiro met Keith when he was an adult and Keith was like 13-14.

And as you said, the worse part about it is these people aren't actual activists or anything, this is just the war cry they yell while they fight over ships. This is has gotten to the point where no one knows half the time if there is a legitimate issue with a user or it's just more bullshit purity culture. It's infuriating.

Yeah, I didn't ship it myself but the wank around it was so ridiculous and I wasn't surprised when Voltron fandom got such a bad rep over it.

And exactly. This is what I hate the most: using irl issues to fend of things they don't like without taking into consideration how they can damage the cause the are supposedly standing for (which of course they don't care because this isn't about the cause, this is about petty ship wars taking a different approach).
