I would have preferred that...I find that Rowling loved shoving in romance at random, like...maybe that's how people act, but I'm always surprised at how out of left field Harry's feelings for Ginny were AND the Snape reveal.

My problem with it is that she just doesn't write romance well. Other types of love she writes well. She was very good with friendships and familial love. But every single one of her romances were terrible.

I still find Ron and Hermione to be just....awful. And I love both of them individually. I don't even know why they're friends besides "we stuck together since we were young bc lbr Hermione, you wouldn't have friends otherwise."

Harry/Ginny wasn't as weird in the 6th because they were teenagers and crushes can come and go pretty easily. That they stayed together foe +19 years and got married is an entirely other matter.
