When I was born my parents were still together and had two cats. One was a big black and white tom called Sly and a big puffy grey and white lady called Misty. Both came from bad homes filled with flees and maybe that is why they accepted me, thinking I was some flee ridden blanket the parents had come home with.

As I grew they became my guardians. In times when you could leave a pram outside, Misty would sit int he basket underneath me and Sly would curl up in the bath in front of us and hell mend anyone who dared come near. When my father left us and we had to move we took the cats. Sly continuously roamed back to the old house to our astonishment so our neighbour took him in. Misty was sadly run over. But I will never forget that pair of fools who guarded me with their lives while still loathing each other.

They sound completely awesome. It's quite right and proper that you'll always remember them.

My beautiful blue budgie that I named Rose (because I desperately wanted to be called Rose, and not what I was called). After the half-day at Kindergarten, my mom and dad picked me up and we had lunch at the Holiday Inn buffet (my favorite), and then went to Woolworths where I got to pick out my bird.

She was so pretty and blue/purple and chirpy and I loved her. :D

I think about three years? It's hard to remember that long ago, really. I would love to have another budgie - two or three, really - but i just don't have the space.

A black gerbil called Sammy. He was adorable and hyper and my little baby. He also ate everything which was what eventually did him in. Apparently one night be basically chewed through about half of his running wheel and that was that. D:

Haha, this is true! My dad said actually something like "well at least he had a nice full tummy!" to try and lighten the mood and my mother glared daggers at him for it.

My very first pet was the cat we had when I was a kid. He really was my cat. Slept on my bed. We found out I was allergic when I was 6 I think. He still wanted to sleep in my room and would sneak in every chance he got. He died when I was 8 I believe (or may have been a little before I turned 8). He developed a breathing problem of some kind (not sure what, but his breathing was labored and hurt him), so we had to put him down.

The first pet that I actually had responsibility for was our dog Snowball. He was meant to be my dog, but he picked my dad as his person. But he was precious and I loved him. I didn't even mind getting up at 5AM on Saturdays to walk him (that's when we got up during the school week, and he thought Saturdays should be the same).

When I was born we owned a Burmese called Mimi, but I don't really remember her. After she died we got another Burmese, a boy named Sam. He died fairly young, only about five I think? Then we got another Burmese (we like Burmese cats) and couldn't really decide on a name - we eventually chose Davidson, but we always just called him The Cat. Davidson died last year, aged 17. I miss him a lot.
