Paris' burning, what the hell

more specifically, the Notre-Dame cathedral
(I feel a bit numb over it TBH, my mind is stuck on "ah shit I'll have to wait at least another year before writing that epic Gringoire/Djali lovestory fic I was planning, now would seem a tad disrespectful")

Searching 'paris is burning' gives me both the Notre Dame news and the 1990 Documentary.

It is! I believe it's getting another theatrical release pretty soon in certain areas.

Just FYI, the Notre Dame fire is mostly out. All the art and relics were successfully evacuated. The main part of the church is okay.

Also, Gene Wolfe died. One of the best science fiction and fantasy writers ever, one of my personal favorite writers ever. RIP

Watching Notre-Dame spire collapse made me feel ill. That place made such an impression on me. Tonight is a surreal night of grief. But of course, humans rebuild. That is what we are best at.

Watching the spire collapse made me cry (which promptly made my sisters make fun of me). I went to Paris a few years ago and absolutely loved the Notre Dame. I spent a good chunk of time there just staring at all the stained glass windows and studying the architecture.

It's been burned before, and will be rebuilt again. It's sickening now, but it's a testament to how great humans are that we can rebuild from the ashes.

Same. I've been lucky enough to see it in person years ago, and watching it burn brought me to tears. I know it'll be rebuilt and restored as best as we can but it's still hard to see.
