I don't think ayrt is referring to little shits who enjoy going out of their way to ruin a person's day. More like people who go where spoilage is very likely to happen and then whine when it does.

OP didn't really verify though?

I think there's a difference between, say, going into a Reddit thread* for your old fandom... and just generally being on Facebook, or fandom!secrets for that matter, and having people blab things without warning.

*That being said, I'm on a few Reddit groups for older anime, including one with a pretty famous character death, and the mods still require marking spoilers. Which honestly seems like a perfectly civil thing to do. It takes two seconds to do, and allows newbies to post and peruse as they are still watching it for the first time. Which honestly is super fun - sometimes you're watching a series and just want to talk about it, even if you haven't finished it yet.

Naw, mate, if you're going to get all pissy if someone on facebook blabs that the boat sinks in Titanic, then don't go on facebook. It's not the rest of the world's responsibility to avoid talking about popular culture until you decide to catch up.

And so what if it is? I'm imagining you telling people about to see the film how it ends, and that's just shitty no matter how you look at it.

In all fairness, I was in line with friends to see a different movie and someone in my group brought it up and wondered about whether it would be good and I think I said something like, "It'll probably be sad since I'm pretty sure they both die."

Someone ELSE in line got mad at me. So it's not like I intentionally spoiled it.

Dumb example with a famous historical event.

"Avoid all human contact if you ever want to enjoy anything fresh ever" may be technically true, but it's common courtesy to not spoil things. It baffles me how hard it is for people to warn for spoilers or why they seem to take such sadistic delight in blabbing spoilers just because no, it technically isn't illegal for them to do so.
