It always throws me a little when they say "henny", because I'm used to the queer and/or drag community just using "hunty".

Also an ex used to say "hunny" or call me "hun" in texts and it drove me nuts. It's "honey" and "hon". Even if you have to "hon hon baguette Eiffel Tower" me"

you don't see this as much now but some old-school feminists spell women "wimmin" and as much as I am politically on their side that always made me think of Popeye.

Really? Huh, I mostly see 'wimmin' on the alt-right/incel sides of things nowadays. Womyn on the other hand...

It isn't grammatically correct but where I am from it is pretty much accepted that 'hunny and hun' are terms of endearment and would be spelled that way if writing to the person they are aimed at. 'hon' is rather jarring here and would be pronounced the way it looks. I can understand why it would irritate if not a person's thing.
