I can't say I pay attention to usernames at all tbh. Usually it's dumb summaries or tags that I don't have an interest in, like ABO etc.

I treat it as a very rough, imprecise guide to what part of fandom a writer is coming from

16 year old teen, 4channer, names help establish these things

I know, right? In fact, several times I've found myself knee-deep in a story before accidentally glancing at the username of the author and doing a double-take. But it clearly has no bearing on their writing ability.
